An unidentified group attacked and killed a 61-year-old man

An unidentified group attacked and killed a 61-year-old man named Okello Jimmy, who was the chairman of a local Tea Co-operative Union in Zombo district.

The attack occurred around 8:30 pm on July 10, 2023, near Akanukuma village as he was returning from watching a football match. He was brutally murdered, suffering deep cut wounds to his head and arms.

The police suspect a possible link between the murder and a long-standing land dispute between two clans, Jupadaa and Jupacheno.

This incident led to retaliation, with the deceased's relatives attacking three villages, causing destruction and injuries. The police, along with the military, assessed the damage and are working to restore calm.

The suspects are currently on the run, and the police are determined to apprehend them for both the murder and subsequent acts of arson.
