An assault along the Niger-Mali border resulted in the tragic loss of at least 17 soldiers' lives.

 

Around 17 Nigerien soldiers lost their lives and 20 were injured during an assault by suspected jihadists near the border of Niger and Mali.

 The attack occurred between the towns of Boni and Torodi, with a detachment of the Niger Armed Forces falling into a terrorist ambush near Koutougou. The defense ministry in Niamey reported the incident, stating that six soldiers were seriously wounded among the casualties. 

The army has engaged in a cleanup operation, and they reported the destruction of two groups of attackers, comprising over fifty motorcycles each, resulting in the neutralization of around a hundred terrorists as they retreated.
