Militant commanders of significant rank were eliminated during combined efforts by local and regional forces in the northern Cabo Delgado province of Mozambique, according to the military.

Among them was Abu Kital, who occupied the role of deputy commander of operations for the Ahlu-Sunnah wal Jama`a (ASWJ) group, as stated by the military release.

The other individual was Ali Mahando, who also held a high-ranking position within the same group.
