❗️Typo Leaks Millions of US Military Emails - FT

A common spelling error has sent on Pentagon messages to a company running Mali's Internet domain - exposing sensitive information including tax returns, passwords and top military officials' travel itinerary.

Instead of typing .MIL, the emails where pinged to .ML in Africa. The problem was first found a decade ago by a Dutch entrepreneur who was contracted by Mali.

He now has some 117,000 emails sent by mistake, as he continues to stress to Washington the importance of the issue with his contract up on Monday - and Mali being allied with Russia.

Some show X-rays, crew lists, staff lists at bases and photos, maps of installations, internal investigations and bookings. One .ML slip shows the travel plans of the US Army chief of staff and his trip to Indonesia - including hotel room numbers.
