Mobile money agent shot dead as armed thugs raid Gulu City



Unknown thugs have shot dead a mobile money and agent banking operator in Gulu City. Kenneth Olobo met his death at around 8 pm on Saturday night when two gunmen raided his shop in Lacan Kwite cell in Bardege-Layibi Division.

The gunmen shot Olobo in the stomach and he succumbed to the gunshot wounds on Sunday morning at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital where he had been rushed for emergency treatment.

Jane Auma Okech, an eye witness told this publication in an interview on Sunday that she saw two armed men who were riding on a motorcycle invading the shop. She says the two thugs who were all dressed in army camouflage uniforms fired gunshots in the shop and air forcing people to scamper into the neighboring areas.

Akech says that after carrying out the attack, the gunmen fled on a motorcycle toward the Gulu-Nimule highway. Ian Opiyo, the proprietor of the mobile money shop, says that the thugs first entered as customers and asked for the electronic money transfer service.
