Minister Amongi Betty Applauds Lira Catholic Diocese for establishing Catholic Professional Association.

The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Hon. Amongi Betty Akena has called on the catholic proffessionals to offer their expertise to serve God’s people with integrity, transparency, and social justice. She noted that the catholic doctrines of work start with Jesus himself being a carpenter; “Jesus worked with his hands, in daily contact with the matter created by God, to which he gave whole of his craftsmanship. It is striking that most of his life was dedicated to this task as a  carpenter” Amongi noted, while quoting (Mark 6:3)

She urged the network to mobilise other professionals to use the association to inculcate good work doctrines among the professionals. She pledged, as the Minister of labour, to support their work noting that Remuneration for work should guarantee man the opportunity to provide a dignified livelihood for herself or himself and his/her family on the material, social, cultural, and spiritual level, taking into account the role and the productivity of each, the state of the business, and the common good.

The Bishop of Lira Diocese His Lordship Linos Wanok thanked the Minister for her support to the work of God. The Hon. Minister Pledged to support the church construction with 10 million shillings. Several professionals, including Members of Parliament, attended the event
