China on Monday reported trade controls on certain robots and robot related gear, saying it needed to defend "public safety and interests" in the midst of raising pressure with the US over access to technology.[Reuters]
According to the commerce ministry, restrictions on certain drone engine, laser, communication, and anti-drone system equipment will take effect on September 1.
The controls would likewise influence some consumer drones, and no regular citizen robots could be traded for military purposes, a ministry representative said in an explanation.
