Swiss President To Step Down At End Of Year, RT

On Wednesday, Swiss President Alain Berset revealed his decision to step down from the country's multi-party cabinet by the end of this year.

The 51-year-old, affiliated with the left-leaning Social Democrats, has played crucial roles as the health and interior minister, overseeing Switzerland's handling of the Covid-19 crisis.

In the Swiss political system, the presidency is a rotational position held by each member of the seven-member Swiss cabinet for a one-year term. The role does not confer any additional power compared to other cabinet members.
