Hon Niwagaba Wilfred gives his position on the current Teachers

Hon Niwagaba Wilfred, the Ndorwa East constituency MP,gives his position on the current Teachers industrial Action.

He says that as parliamentarians, they dissociate themselves from the principle of discriminate payment of teachers salaries and other staff.

The reasoning that there is no money to pay them equally is unsound because money has never been there and enough but what is needed is to priotize government expenditure based on the needs and equity principles as he added.

He said that he strongly supports the Teachers Industrial Action as it is justified, reasonable and legal and he calls upon all teachers and general public to support UNATU in its quest to ensure that all teachers are paid at the same scale.

He says that as lawyers who fight for constitutionalism and good governance they will stand by any member of UNATU who becomes victimised for participating in the industrial action which has been undertaken legally.
