3-year-old girl who was allegedly set on fire by her stepmother


Kasangati police are investigating a case of severe abuse of a 3-year-old girl who was allegedly set on fire by her stepmother.


The woman, identified as Jamila Namugerwa, a resident of Bulamu Zone Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso district has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse.


The incident happened on March 15, 2022 at their home in Bulamu.


Kitimbo Musisi, the father, was also arrested and both were being held at Kasangati police station.


According to KMP spokesman Luke Owoyesigire, the child has been transferred to Wakiso Probation Officer, who will look for a suitable home for the child as they look after the caregivers.


“The police also examined the child and found that he had healing scars, which was a sign that he was being abused by his parents. Severe burns also appeared below the genitals, Owoyesigire said in a statement released on Thursday.


Owoyesigire pointed out that child abuse is a crime and warned parents and guardians to stop abusing it.
