Rebecca Kadaga asks Pastor Kayaks to apologize for defaming her

The Minister of East African Affairs, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga has asked for apology from  Rev. Robert Kayanja for defaming her.

The former speaker is unhappy that the Rubaga Miracle Center chief minister has accused her parliament of failing to approve a budget for an oil refinery.

Pastor Kayanja reportedly said that while preaching at his church over the Easter weekend, the tenth Parliament failed as a country.

"There was an opportunity to work hard to provide funding for the construction of an oil refinery in East Africa, but Parliament has not done so," Kayanja was quoted as saying.

In her defense, however, Kadaga noted that the budget for such had never been submitted to Parliament.

"Pastor Kayanja, you must apologize to the people of Uganda and the 10th Parliament which is abusing their legacy," he wrote on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

“No refinement budget is presented or rejected; Please give reasons why this happened. ”

The national oil refinery was originally part of Uganda's oil production program, which was launched in 2008.

However, this work went backwards as the government prioritized the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP); 1,443 kilometers of crude oil pipeline from Kabaale, Hoima in Uganda to Chongoleani, Tanga in Tanzania.

However, the refining project is still in progress, according to Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa, who recently announced that it will be completed by 2027.

By now, the government has completed the seizure of the project and has paid the people involved in the project.

The government has also designated the Albertine Graben Refinery Consortium (AGRC) as the leading investor in 60,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) for refining in Kabaale in Hoima District.

The Uganda Refinery Project, which includes the construction of a 211-kilometer fuel pipeline from Hoima to northwest of Kampala, is estimated at US $ 3-4 billion.
