Uganda Registers Over 380 Accidents In One Week


A total of 383 accidents occurred during this period and out of these 57 accidents
were fatal, 213 were serious and 113 were minor victims.


There were 348 accident victims during this period and out of these 65 people died
and 283 sustained Injuries.


During this period total number of 4,921 traffic offenders were arrested and issued
with EPS tickets on various traffic offences at various check points in the whole country
from 24th Jan to 30" Jan 2022 offences Include; Reckless driving 1,591, DMCS 1,728,
Invalid driving licences 678, Speeding 292, Not wearing Seat belts 632 among
others.


Now that the economy is fully opened and public transport has gone back to normal,
the bus operators must comply with the psv regulation and pay PSV license, update
their route charts and have valld third party insurance before they operate on the
roads. We have noticed that some buses are violating the routes that they were
permitted to operate and such buses will be impounded drivers arrested and
passengers inconvenlenced.


Traffic police reminds all school owners/head teachers to ensure that all school mator
vehicles are submitted for fitness inspection at the nearby lov inspection centers in
their areas of operation and road worthiness certificate attained before they operate
on the roads.


Well as we understand that the situation can allow one to transport their children to
school using boda boda, we caution parents not to load four children on one motor
cycle in spite of this you find some being ridden on boda boda while asleep in the
